Moving Island by Wally-Hermès Yachts

Monaco-based luxury maritime design and manufacturer Wally Yachts and French high-end fashion house Hermès have partnered for this unique one-of-a-kind project they've called a "moving island" – or, officially, Wally Hermès Yacht (WHY).

The boat is contained in a triangular hull measuring 58m x 38m. there is no superstructure. The initial idea of this hull was confirmed by the ram-form hull which they discovered, redesigned and adapted to fit the concept of the wheel house that emerges from the silhouette of the ship. The interior of the yacht is fitted out with water resistant buffalo leather using the calpinage technique.

WHY has been specially designed to have the lowest possible impact on the environment. The 58x38 metres wide yacht will cost roughly €90m (Dh491m) to €100m and take about two years to build.
