A series of hand drawn maps colored by aquarelle embracing each box, accompanied by a series of illustrations highlighting what is unique about each country. Each illustration is supported by local curiosities. That's pretty much sum up 'My World Wine' packaging designed by Oslo-based Designer's Journey.

For example, the Australia wine, we selected surf, pink diamonds, Indigenous, Crocodile, Uluru - Ayers Rock, Sidney Opera House, the Koala, the Kangaroo, Eucalyptus tree and Dolphins.

So, next time you buy a wine, you also buy the country curiosities.

The Alien Abduction Lamp, a desk lamp in the form of a UFO that beams up a cow, is a wonderful product from designer Lasse Klein. A limited edition, the lamp features an UFO in solid cast metal with glow-in-the-dark aliens, the antenna functions as the on off switch, and it also has a third position for pulsing light and of course, the poor abducted cow.

The Alien Abduction Lamp is designed by Lasse Klein.

Love this new pestle and mortar from Joseph Joseph. Reminiscent of the Orb, the ORB is designed with special thought of the pestle and mortar usage. The mortar is a sphere-shape bowl with cover in white color while the pestle is green in color.  The main bowl is perfect for crushing and grinding larger quantities of ingredients, or even several at once. The lid, when inverted, provides a neat hand-held mortar - ideal for grinding smaller amounts of herbs and spices.

With the cheerful shape and color, who still want to use the electrical grinder?

Fygein Adynaton Wine by Chris Trivizas
Fygein Adynaton Wine by Chris Trivizas

The title 'Fygein Adynaton' comes from ancient Greek maxim 'Pepromenon fygein adynaton', meaning that faith cannot be avoided.

The concept is inspired by a drop of wine, which most people would just wipe off from the neck of the bottle. Having serve the wine, you will notice a drop of wine run alongside the bottle's neck towards the three parallel lines. The line near which the drop will stop, is the one that fortells your future. Then read the prediction that corresponds to that line at the back of the bottle and find out your destiny.

The extra wrapping paper around the wine with handwriting-type label also my favorite, made the wine look more exclusive than the mass production.

“Force fed on violence, abused by a controlling superpower and blackmailed through patriotism, the public are ultimately as disposable as the toys they once played with.” – Ben Turnbull

London based artist Ben Turnbull “is fascinated by the global dominance of American culture, and his works’ unsettling effects result from re-presenting the toys of our innocent youth in symbolic forms that reveal the shocking truths about war, death and guns in the world’s most powerful country.”

With reclaimed wooden school desks as his choice of canvas, Turnbull has delicately carved into seven of the pockmarked, pen-scratched surfaces, leaving the negative imprint of a deadly weapon upon each. Employing impressions of guns, knives, grenades and even space-age sharp shooters - the desks are transformed from relics of a childhood past into intricately formed, vaguely intimidating reflections of the rapidly changing face of contemporary culture.

Weemala Wines by War Design

Weemala is the aboriginal name for the district where the grapes are grown and to the local indigenous Wiradjuri people it also means 'good view'. This insight inspired War Design a series of labels featuring hand illustrated native birds. Reproduces in simple black and white to enhance their presence in an overly colorful environment.

The new design has won Sales effectiveness awards in 2006 AGDA Awards.

Paper Sculptures by Bert Simons

Eric Testroete made this papercraft mask as his costume for Halloween 2009. It was kind of inspired by big-head mode seen in video games with the faceted geosphere look with wire-frame. Created based on the experienced of papercraft artists Bert Simons and Haywan Chiu, the Self Portrait mask is the best Halloween mask I've seen so far. Well done, Eric Testroete!

Software used to create this stunning papercraft mask are 3ds Max 2009, Mudbox 2010, Photoshop CS3, Pepakura.
